Kappa Delta and the UNC Office of Fraternity Life

Congratulations Beta Chi on 2009 UNC Panhellenic Chapter of the Year!

The Beta Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta wonderfully represents the entire Panhellenic community on the UNC campus by supporting and promoting events of other sororities as well as hosting events of our own. In addition, we are never short on collaboration with IFC, NPHC, and GAC. Be it through our Crawfish Broil with Chi Phi Fraternity or providing the refreshments for events held by Psi Sigma Phi Multicultural Fraternity Inc., Beta Chi prides themselves on our close relationship with other Greek organizations.

Being members of the Panhellenic Council of the UNC Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, you can bet that we are super involved in this important facet of Greek Life at Carolina. Kappa Deltas Laurie Curnes and Elizabeth Darden are currently serving as VP Standards and VP Finance respectively on the Panhellenic Executive Council, not to mention that just last year our very own Meredith Martindale, was the Panhellenic President.

This spring, KD hosted a Panhellenic Pizza Party which was a free pizza lunch in the kitchen, open to all Panhellenic women. About 120 women came out to enjoy lunch together and mingle with members of other sororities. It was a great time! Throughout the year, as other houses provide benefit dinners for various campus organizations and philanthropies, Kappa Delta women make an extra effort to support these houses by attending their dinners. This is just one way we show our support for the Panhellenic community as a whole.

Excitingly, this April at the Greek Awards, the Beta Chi Chapter of Kappa Delta was named 2009 Panhellenic Chapter of the Year.  We are so proud of this recognition and feel like it is a tangible reward for the commitment to excellence for which we all strive. We hope to continue to work hard in future endeavors.
